Additional Comments:
- Most NIH institutes will now entertain fast track applications.
- DoD Phase I's can vary in amount depending on the desires of the awarding agency as specified in the solicitation.
- Guidelines are now being routinely exceeded if properly justified; however,
such budgets should be discussed with program officers in advance of
submitting the application.
- Size of money pool available to fund new grants fluctuates
with Federal Budget.
- Different agencies have different rules: consult their web sites for specifics.
SBIR AT NIAID:
The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases has an SBIR program that offers significantly more money than other programs.
Phase I: up to 2 years at $300,000 per year
Phase II: up to three years at $1 million per year for clinical trials.

Special Programs
